Poolside predictions for the Olympia

My buddy Mike knows bodybuilding, fitness, and figure really well, so I thought I’d get his predictions right before the big event.  See how he fared…

Another Olympia is in the books

2008 Olympia weekend was awesome as usual.  Sure, the contest is fun, but it’s the other stuff that makes the weekend the most fun.

Speaking of the contest, we have a new Mr. Olympia - Dexter Jackson!  He deservedly won over the reigning champ, Jay Cutler.  Jay is quite a bit bigger, but Dexter has a more aesthetic physique.  An Apples and Oranges type of thing.

Last tour stop: the 2008 Mr. Olympia in Las Vegas, NV

OK, I’m not really on tour, but I sure feel like it.  I’ve been gone from home the past 5 weekends and will be away this weekend.

This weekend I’m going to Las Vegas for the Mr. Olympia.  Actually it’s more accurately called Olympia Weekend now since they have women’s bodybuilding, fitness, and figure.  But (no offense to the ladies) the Mr. Olympia is still the big draw.

But to me, going to the expo and the parties and catching up with old friends and making new friends is more fun than the contest itself.

This year I’m going with a buddy of mine (and training partner) who has never been to the Olympia.  In fact, he’s never been to a pro bodybuilding show at all.  Boy is he in for a treat!

The last stop on our agenda is the Rehab Pool Party at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.  I call it “spring break for adults.”

On a related (but sort of not) note - I just purchased a great little video camera called Flip Video.  So look for DrClay.com to become more multimedia.  I plan to try it out this weekend in Vegas.  So stay tuned over the next few days for updates.

Yours in health,

Dr Clay

PS - If you’re at the Olympia and happen to see me (note my new shaved head in the photos below), please make sure to say hi and introduce yourself.

Shredded at Last: Getting Rid of Stubborn Body Fat

Shredded at Last
Getting Rid of Stubborn Fat
by Dr. Clay Hyght, DC, CSCS, CISSN

The only thing harder than starting an exercise and nutrition plan is following through till the bitter end, without giving up or giving in to the “this is too hard” or “I’m just not meant to be lean” excuses.

Sometimes, however, even perseverance is not enough. It often takes something more high-tech to enable you to get rid of that last little bit of body fat that seems permanently affixed to your body. (more…)

I want my bed!

I’m so looking forward to being able to sleep in my own bed on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights!

I have spent the last 5 weekends (loooonngg weekends!) out of town and will be spending next weekend out of town, too.  When you’ve been on the road so much it’s REALLY nice to get back home and sleep in your own bed, shower in your own shower, and cook in your own kitchen.

Now don’t get me wrong, all of my trips were a blast!  And I’m very blessed to be able to attend wor

ld-class seminars and coach incredible bodybuilders and figure competitors - so I’m not complaining.  But if I had it my way, I’d spread all the fun out over a longer period of time.

Next weekend, however, will be more about chilling than business.  I’m going to the Olympiain Las Vegas.  Since AD (unfortunately) didn’t qualify in Atlantic City, I won’t have anyone in the show.  So I

view from kayak

just get to hang out with friends and make new friends.  It’ll be a fun weekend - no doubt!

I’ll leave you with a cool pic that I took while paddling across Lake Tahoe a couple months ago.

Best,

Dr Clay
