Simple, Low-Fat Chili Recipe

Here’s an easy to make chili recipe that’s high in protein, moderate in carbs, high in fiber, and low in fat.

Ingredients:chilli

  • 1 lb extra-lean ground beef
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 can low-sodium tomato sauce
  • 1 package chili seasoning
  • ½ can dark red kidney beans
  • ½ can black beans

Directions:

  • Brown ground beef.
  • Add all the other "stuff."
  • Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes.

Option: Top with low-fat or fat-free shredded cheddar cheese.

Duh: Do I need to mention that you should drain the ground beef after cooking it?  I didn’t think so.  Oh, and drain most of the juice off the canned beans while you’re at it.
