If (unfortunately when is probably more accurate) you suffer from an injury, it’s important to take care of the injury properly. This will help avoid further injury and get you back in the game faster.
After all, how are you going to go to the gym and continue to sculpt that killer body if you’re injured?
Though it’s never a bad idea to see a doc, if you’re going to try to treat an injury yourself, use RICE in the first 72 hours or so after the injury.
Rest – in order to avoid further injury, if it hurts, don’t use it
Ice – causes blood vessels to contract and decrease circulation
Compression – to maintain normal contour of the area
Elevation – to help keep blood from pooling at a low point and return it to the heart
Do Not apply heat to injuries.
