How long to rest between sets

Question: I was wondering how long do you typically rest between sets when training for growth? I usually do around 60-90 seconds.

Thanks for your time.  (received via bb.com forum)

Answer: On an exercise that’s more compound in nature

(i.e. squats, deadlifts, pull-ups, barbell presses, etc.) I typically rest 90 to 180 seconds.

On ancillary stuff (more isolation in nature like curls) I’ll rest more like the 60 – 90sec you mentioned.

Then I’ll often finish with an isolation exercise (i.e. flyes) and rest about 30 sec between sets.

Best,
