If you haven’t heard of trueprotein.com, you’re really missing out. Basically it’s a place that will custom make protein for you. The only problem is that the vast majority of people don’t know what type is best to order, or what combination of ingredients.

Great post, thanks a ton for the info! As a chiropractic student up to my eyes in work and almost as much debt this looks like a phenomenal way to get quality protein at an incredible cost.

Do you use the same formula for pre and post workout?
I am also surpried that nyou would add Splenda to the mix. I have read many studies that tell of the havoc it does to your body. Here is one:

Why not use stevia or Xylitol the latter has added benifits for teeth.

I have saved lots of cash ever since Dr. Clay introduced me to trueprotein.com. I sat down and figured it up and the savings are well worth the small amount of time it takes to do it yourself. Thanks again to Dr. Clay for being a friend and truly caring about others!

Joseph, thanks a lot for the kind words my friend. It’s definitely nice to hear that my work is appreciated -that makes it all worthwhile. :-) .

Bob, the formula mentioned is perfect for a general use protein because it has fast acting whey protein and slow acting casein protein. So in essence, it’s time released. However, it may be attached more beneficial to use a fast acting whey protein (whey isolate) pre-and post workout. And that happens to be my current recommendation: A blended protein when used any other time of day other than pre-or post workout, and whey protein pre-and post workout.

As for Splenda, I must admit that I was not aware of that most recent study that was done on Splenda. Up until that point most of the supposed negative effects were pretty much just anecdotal in nature, meaning there was no real research.

So, my recommendation has been (and always will be) to avoid using artificial sweeteners if reasonably possible. However, if one is going to use an artificial sweetener, I recommend Splenda as it is the lesser of the evils so to speak. However, I will be doing more research on the topic to decide if my recommendation is still the same.

I highly suspect, however, that Splenda is still a safer alternative than NutraSweet or saccharine. but, it may not be quite as safe as I thought. However, I definitely think that the adverse effects that many people state are highly exaggerated and or inaccurate. As is the case with most things, the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.

I do appreciate you taking the time to provide a link for me to do some more research on the topic. One thing that I hope you all appreciate about me is the fact that I do not claim to know it all. While I am very knowledgeable, I am always learning. I try my best to provide the most accurate and unbiased information around. But, for me to do that. I have to stay on top of things and continually research a wide variety of topics. And it looks like one of my next topics will be (sucralose).

    All the best,

    Dr Clay

Dr Clay: Thank very much for this site and the extra info on True Protein…what a money saver. I ordered your recommended blend along with natural vanilla flavor and stevia.
I would like to recommend that anyone who is supplementing with protein powders ( as I have for years ) have a food allergy test ( IgG4 NOT IgE )performed for 45 -125 common foods. I recently had one done and was shocked at the results. For years I have consumed natural peanut butter and egg white powder and was found to be highly allergic to it . I also showed hyper sensitivity to soy ( which I have stayed away from anyway due to it upsetting my stomach )…..Whey, casein, etc I showed no allergic reactions….now I know why I have had some of the chronic conditions associated with consumimg the wrong foods….what a difference…

    Thanks again……but I do miss peanut butter….

  8. DrClay says:

I agree, getting a food allergy test IS a good idea. Thanks for sharing.
