To get the most out of lying (prone) leg curls, point your toes down (plantarflex) throughout the movement.
This takes the gastrocnemius (calf) out of the movement, because it’s put in a shortened (weaker) position. Thus, all the work is on the hams.
You will have to use much less weight doing your leg curls this way, but your hams will get a much stronger contraction.
Give this leg curl "tweak" a try and I’m sure you’ll like it!
Best,
Dr Clay
