7 Tips: Beat Insomnia & Sleep like a Baby
In Episode 9 of The Dr Clay Show I went over 7 tips to beating insomnia and getting a good night sleep.
This information is so important that I wanted to post it here as well.
Sleep-Improving, Insomnia-Beating Tips
- Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day… even on the weekends.

- Avoid stimulants (i.e. caffeine) up to 8 hours before bed.
- Avoid drinking alcohol before bed.
- Avoid vigorous exercise within 4 hours before bed.
- Make your room as dark as possible!
- Have a relaxing bedtime routine.
- Do not take naps.
If you apply the 7 sleep tips above, I can practically guarantee that you will sleep better than you have in a long time.
Note: do not under estimate tip number 5. It seems sort of silly to try to eliminate ALL sources of light in your bedroom, but this has made a tremendous difference in the quality of my sleep. To be more specific, I usually wake up 2 to 3 times per night, but when my room is completely blacked out I usually wake up only once — and sometimes not even that! It’s oh so nice!
Yours in health,
Dr Clay
