The Best Way to Remove or Shave Body Hair
What’s the best way to get rid of body hair? What’s the best type of razor to use on your body? Should I use Nair or a razor? Should I shave my body with a regular razor or an electric razor?
You would be surprised how often I receive questions like the ones above, especially from men who realize that (for the most part) chicks don’t dig hairy guys. Okay sure, women like it when you have hair on your head, but not when you have so much body hair that kids mistake you for Bigfoot!
Here are a few tips on how to best get rid of unwanted body hair.
1) Do not use a regular razor on sensitive areas. Most people can get by using a regular razor ( like a Gillette Mach 3) on less sensitive areas like their forearms. But using a regular razor on more sensitive areas like the bend in your elbow, your abdomen, and the front of your thighs can lead to razor burn and/or a rash. For that reason, I’m not a big fan of using a regular razor on my body.
2) Use caution when using body hair removal creams. For many people Nair can be a great option, but many people end up with at least one area that has suffered from a mild to moderate chemical burn. As you can imagine, this doesn’t feel or look very good.
Feel free to experiment with hair removal creams like Nair, but I would definitely avoid using them within days of an important event in which your body will be exposed.
3) Consider using an electric razor. Although many people do not think about using an electric razor for their body, I and many clients have been successfully shaving with electric razors for years.
Electric razors offer one major advantage: they do not tend to irritate the skin. That’s precisely why I began shaving with an electric razor prior to a bodybuilding contest. However, I quickly began using an electric razor exclusively.
I recently switched from using a standard, foil electric razor (designed for shaving your face) to using one designed exclusively for shaving body hair.
The razor I’m now using is called the Bodygroom, and it’s made by Norelco. Although I have not had it long, so far I am REALLY liking it!
