Yes, I’m one of those people that has a Bucket List. And I’m super-stoked to have recently crossed yet one more thing off that list…SNOWBOARDING!

But despite my borderline overconfidence with my skiing abilities, for some reason I never really thought I’d be able to snowboard very well – at least without LOTS of practice.
Therefore I humbled myself and signed up for boarding lessons. After lesson #1 I was decent, but had a really hard time getting started, turning, and slowing down. So I guess all I could really do was go straight! Unfortunately it really requires more skills than just that.
I left that day kind of bummed – I felt like snowboarding beat me…and I don’t like to lose! So I signed up for another lesson bright and early the next day.
Immediately everything clicked, and I was on my way! Don’t get me wrong, I

Day Two - well, almost
still wiped out a NUMBER of times, but I achieved the goal I set for myself the day before – to ride all the way down the mountain without falling! I was so excited you’d have thought I’d just won the gold medal in snowboarding!
Skiing vs Snowboarding
I found skiing easier to get started doing, but boarding a tad easier once you have the basics down.
As for which is more fun, I’d definitely have to say riding a snowboard. It’s significantly more versatile and, I feel, is also quite a bit safer – at least for your knees and hips.
If you’re just starting out, I’d highly recommend learning boarding vs skiing for most people. To be honest, I doubt I’ll ever ski again, snowboarding is THAT fun!
