Peaking for a bodybuilding show is an hour-by-hour, minute-by-minute thing.  So you never really know what a competitor is going to look like until right before the show.

So after doing some last minute “tricks” Friday night, AD and I were eager to see how he looked this morning.  To summarize… WOW!  Everything worked out better than I could’ve hoped for.

That’s a big stress off me since this is the first time I’ve worked with AD.  Seeing how hard and full he looked allowed me to let out a big sigh of relief.

People overuse this phrase all the time, but this is BY FAR the best AD has ever looked, and that’s all you can really ask for.  I take that back, now we’re asking for the judges to take notice of the NEW & IMPROVED AD CHERRY that is ready to do battle on the IFBB stage.

Best,

AD Cherry Pics day before 2008 Atlantic City IFBB show

side-chest.jpgimgp2288.JPGHere are a few sneak peak photos of my client, AD Cherry, the day before the Atlantic City Pro Show.

Our goal since the beginning was to at least tie his best ever conditioning (that he achieved at the 2007 NPC National when he earned his pro card) and to bring him in bigger and fuller than ever.

We have accomplished BOTH goals!  So any improvements between now and tomorrow side-relaxed-650.jpgmorning (and I do expect some) will be icing on the cake.front-lat-650.jpg

Now we just hope AD gets the callouts he deserves tomorrow morning.

Will keep you posted right here.

Paris 2nd at Team Universe

Paris side chestI’m very pleased to report that Paris Pippillion took 2nd this weekend at the 2008 NPC Team Universe in New York.  It was a VERY close call between him and the winner, Jeff Rodriquez.  Jeff has taken 2nd the past two years and is a great bodybuilder (and a nice guy).  So 2nd to him is nothing to be ashamed of, that’s for sure!

Most importantly, Paris looked his best ever!  Even Jeff Rodriguez said to Paris “you definitely get the most improved bodybuilder award this year.”  Quite a compliment from your competitor.  So, although first (and a spot on the Team USA World Championship Team) would’ve been nice, Paris did GREAT!

Ironman Magazine has posted some pics (under “comparisons”) and will be posting more.

Muscular Development has also posted a bunch of pics.

Paris also got some well-deserved publicity (he was interviewed by both Ironman and Muscular Development) that will only help his competitive career.

It was especially nice to have been there in person to see Paris stake his claim to being one of the best middleweight bodybuilders in the country.  I have been helping Paris since his was a Novice competitor doing local shows in Houston, TX.  So a 2nd place at the Team Universe was a great way to celebrate our 8th year working together.

Great job, Paris - I’m proud of you, man!

Heading to Team Universe

I just got back from Birmingham where I was helping Tim (in the Mr Alabama) and visiting my family and friends.

Now I’m back in Cali, but just for 24 hours.  I’m heading out in the morning (early) to fly to New York to help Paris who will be competing in the Team Universe.  If I have internet access, I’ll post some up-to-the minute pics for you.

Today I also met with another client, IFBB Pro AD Cherry.  AD is looking REALLY good!  I think he’s going to end up leaner than he was last year when he won the Nationals, but bigger and fuller.  So he should certainly be bringing his best package ever to the stage the following weekend in Atlantic City.

Since this is the first show that I’ve worked with AD, I’d be really pleased if he ended up his best ever:)  That’s the plan!  I do have some sneak peak pics of him, but I’ve gotta keep them to myself.  However, I will plan to post some next weekend from the hotel room.

Congrats Tim!

Tim’s ripped side shotThe hard work that Tim Smith has done over the past year really paid off at the 2008 Alabama State Bodybuilding Championship

He took 2nd place in the Open Heavyweight Class!

What’s extra impressive about that is that last year was the first year Tim ever stepped on stage!

Over the “victory dinner” we reminisced about how different Tim is now than a year and a half ago when we started working together.  He was a powerlifter who was strong but so stiff he couldn’t scratch his own ass.  Seriously, he couldn’t get his arms back enough to hit the double biceps pose.

Though he wanted to one day compete in a bodybuilding show, he didn’t think he had what it would take.

Fast forward one year… Tim is now one of the best bodybuilders in the state!  He’s so disciplined that he’s already working towards the new goals we set for next year.

To say I’m proud of Tim would be an understatement.

I’ll tell you what, being in the position to actually get paid to help people like Tim is quite a blessing!
