I want my bed!

I’m so looking forward to being able to sleep in my own bed on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights!

I have spent the last 5 weekends (loooonngg weekends!) out of town and will be spending next weekend out of town, too.  When you’ve been on the road so much it’s REALLY nice to get back home and sleep in your own bed, shower in your own shower, and cook in your own kitchen.

Now don’t get me wrong, all of my trips were a blast!  And I’m very blessed to be able to attend wor

ld-class seminars and coach incredible bodybuilders and figure competitors - so I’m not complaining.  But if I had it my way, I’d spread all the fun out over a longer period of time.

Next weekend, however, will be more about chilling than business.  I’m going to the Olympiain Las Vegas.  Since AD (unfortunately) didn’t qualify in Atlantic City, I won’t have anyone in the show.  So I

view from kayak

just get to hang out with friends and make new friends.  It’ll be a fun weekend - no doubt!

I’ll leave you with a cool pic that I took while paddling across Lake Tahoe a couple months ago.

Best,

Dr Clay

I was attacked!

While lying on the beach in Lake Tahoe today, I was attacked… by a DUCK!  Don’t worry, I was able to snap a pic of the perpetrator before he escaped.

I’ll have some awesome pics and a cool video to post soon from tomorrow’s activities.  Stay tuned.

Another week in the books

Just to explain, the blog you’re reading is my “personal blog.”  Unlike the majority of the updates to the site, it will not (typically) be posted on the home page.  The reason is that www.DrClay.com is about helping you look and feel your best.

My personal blog is simply for me to share my thoughts, feelings, celebrations, frustrations, etc…  It’s my psycho babble if you will.

So, to keep the site about you, and not about me, my personal blog is quietly tucked away in this “corner” of the site.

With that out of the way… it’s hard to believe that over half of the year is gone already, and yet another week has goCable Car View smne by.  Here in the Bay Area we have been experiencing a ridiculous heat wave with highs over 100 the last few days - geez!  I’m ready for some cooler weather.

You’ll probably be surprised that I’m a bit of a weather nerd.  I like to keep up with temps and average temps (and rainfall) of different cities around the country.  For example, the high in Juneau, Alaska this week will be primarily in the 50’s while it will typcially be about 106 or so in Desert Hot Springs, California.

Speaking of dramatic variation, here in the East Bay it was as high as 108 a couple days ago; yet on the same day it was about 70 degrees just a few miles away in San Francisco.  Maybe I should go into the city for some relief…

I’ll close this random “anything goes” blog of mine by showing you what the view from the back of a cable car looks like.  Remember the cable cars you used to see in the Rice-a-Roni (the San Francisco treat) commercials?  I finally rode one.  I’ve gotta admit, I was like a kid on there - hanging off the side and snapping pics all the while.

So in case you can’t ride one of the cable cars, at least you now know what the view is like!

Yours in health,

Dr Clay

How to enjoy the journey… on a Harley

Dr Clay on Harley at Red Rock in NevadaUnless you’re new to DrClay.com or don’t know who I am (by the way I’m Clay Hyght), then you already know that this site is about helping you look and feel your best, and that I’m a fitness “expert” (whatever that means).

But every once in a while I like to diverge from fitness and talk about something else. After all, while fitness is VERY important, it’s not all there is to life.

I think we (I know I do) sometimes get caught up in our to-do lists and our goals, that we forget to actually enjoy and appreciate the present moment. Mountain Springs Saloon

Lee Labrada asked me a few years ago how I did in my latest contest. After telling him I didn’t do quite as well as I’d hoped to, he said, “Clay, you have to make sure to enjoy the process and the journey. Don’t just focus on the goal or destination.” His words have stuck with me ever since.

Unfortunately, I was reminded a few months ago about just how short and uncertain life is when my Dad passed away at only 56 years of age. I’ve done a lot of thinking and reflecting since then. And one thing I thing I’ve realized is that we MUST stop to smell the roses along the way. Otherwise you may never have the chance.Fountain at Bellagio on Las Vegas strip

drc-on-harley-500.jpgSo, while I still think we should all eat right (the vast majority of the time), exercise, and take care of our bodies - I feel it’s important to live life and have a blast along the way.

Instead of continuing to put “Ride a Harley through the Las Vegas desert” on my to-do-one-day list (aka Bucket List) - I decided instead to actually ride a Harley through thred-rock-500.jpge Las Vegas desert. It was a blast!

While I hope you enjoy the photos memoirs of my Harley trip that included the Las Vegas strip, Red Rock, and the Mountain Spring Saloon biker bar, I hope you’ll set out within the next couple of weeks to create your own memories.

Go check something off of your Bucket List!

Yours in health & fitness… and enjoying life:)
